Not everyone knows what group therapy really looks like. For some, the thought of speaking in front of others is intimidating. For others, it sounds like a last resort. But at Gabby Cares of South Florida, we’ve seen what’s possible when people come together in the right environment. Connection becomes a tool for healing, and the group becomes a place where shame doesn’t get the final word.
Whether you're navigating identity, parenting, adolescence, or relationships, there is value in sitting among people who understand. Therapy doesn’t always need to be one-on-one. Sometimes, being in a room where your feelings are mirrored back to you can be the most honest and transformative experience.
Why Group Therapy Can Be So Effective
Individual therapy helps you unpack personal experiences, but group therapy adds a different kind of clarity. It gives you perspective. You get to hear your story echoed in someone else’s words. And in doing so, you begin to understand your own feelings in a new way.
There is comfort in hearing someone say something you’ve struggled to name. That shared moment can be enough to soften your defenses and begin the work of healing.
Each group session becomes a consistent space where progress is measured not by perfection, but by presence. You keep showing up. Others do the same. And week by week, that consistency becomes part of your emotional foundation.
What It Means to Work With a Therapist Intern
Graduate-level therapist interns facilitate all group therapy sessions at Gabby Cares. These individuals are nearing the end of their training and are gaining hands-on experience under the supervision of licensed professionals. Far from being a compromise, this structure is intentional.
Interns are often highly motivated, empathetic, and grounded in the most current clinical approaches. They take time to build relationships with clients and bring a fresh energy to the therapeutic space. Most importantly, they are never working alone. Every intern is closely supervised by an experienced therapist who provides oversight, guidance, and clinical support. This means that you receive the benefits of both up-to-date care and seasoned expertise, all in a collaborative environment.
Intern-led group therapy also plays a vital role in improving access. By reducing costs while maintaining clinical integrity, this model makes healing more financially sustainable for many families and individuals.
Groups Designed to Reflect Real Life

Gabby Cares offers several group therapy options. Each one is shaped by real-life needs and guided by a deep understanding of the emotional challenges people face at different life stages. All sessions are $5 per person and meet weekly, making them among the most affordable mental health services in the region.
Here’s a closer look at our current offerings:
Minority Women’s Support Circle
A space for women of color to unpack identity, manage stress, and speak freely about life experiences without having to explain or translate their truth. The group is guided by facilitators who bring cultural awareness and emotional depth to each session.
Teenager Support Group
Adolescents often carry more than they know how to say. This group helps teens build coping tools, speak openly about mental health, and feel seen by peers who are navigating similar terrain.
New Parents Support Group
Parenthood can be beautiful and isolating at the same time. This group provides new parents with a place to express their feelings, receive support, and learn from one another as they navigate the early years of caregiving.
Parental Support Intensive
Designed for parents of children ages 0–6, this group offers strategies for supporting development, managing behavior, and handling the emotional demands of parenting with more confidence and care.
Couples Intensive Support Group
Relationships require work, and this group offers a dedicated space for couples to strengthen their bond, communicate more clearly, and face challenges as a team. The format includes six intensive sessions.
Accessible Care Without Sacrificing Quality
Therapy should not be a luxury. The mental health field is working to become more inclusive, but cost remains a significant barrier for many. That’s why intern-led groups at Gabby Cares are so important. They open the door to professional support without the high price tag. You don’t have to choose between affordability and quality. You can have both.
